If you've been in the teen rooms at Northwest Library or Old Worthington lately you might have heard the sweet sound of music. Yes, music! The teen rooms have radios/cd players! We are super excited to have this awesome feature, but I am struggling with what music to play.
So....that's where you come in.
What I want to know is... what type of music should we play? Top 40's? Rock? Country? Classical? (I know at least one of you will request musicals! (Right Glinda :))
Let us know what YOU think!

Got some extra time on your hands? Or perhaps you're just interested in helping out a fellow librarian?
A library student at Drexel University is contributing to a book called: Connecting Young Adults and Libraries by Michele Gorman and Tricia Suellentrop. So they obviously need input/feedback from TEENS on their reading habits.
If you don't mind, help a librarian out by answering a few questions.
Your personal information won't be requested, recorded, etc. So no worries!

Happy Election day everyone! May your candidate of choice do well at the polls today, but hopefully my candidate of choice will win, JK
I am sitting here planning out spring and summer teen programs for Northwest and came across the idea of having an Amigurumi program. What is Amigurumi you ask? Well according to wikipedia, Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals. (see the cat on the left, how cute!)
Would a program on Amigurumi interest anyone? I think this would be a fun program to have in April. I would love to know your thoughts on this so please comment!
Other ideas for programs to offer this coming spring and summer are always welcome!!

We are thinking about starting an Anime club at the Northwest Library in the Fall. We would do it through Operation Anime which is a program where we can request certain titles as a group, watch the film and then review it. My questions to you are:
- Are you interested in an Anime club?
- Would you actually come to the meetings/showings?
- What day of the week and time would be the best to do this type of program? (Remember, it will be Fall and you will be back in school.)
I would love to know what you think!

It is time to renew teen magazine subscriptions for the library. We would love your input! Below is a list of magazines we have in the teen collection and a list of magazines I think might be cool to have. Please let me know what magazines you think the library should keep, add, or get rid of. Hope to hear from you soon.
Current Magazines in the Teen Collection:
| Anime Insider | J-14 | Shojo Beat |
| Cosmo Girl | Justine | Shonen Jump |
| Electronic Gaming Monthly | Mad | Teen Vogue |
| ESPN mag | NY Times Upfront | Thrasher |
| Game Pro | Rolling Stone | VIBE |
| Guideposts Sweet 16 | Seventeen | WWE Wrestling |
Here are my ideas:
- ESPN is not being used. No one ever checks it out. I say lets move it to adult and replace it with either Rise or Sports Illustrated.
- Rolling Stone is also not used. I am not sure what to do about this one. I think we should try moving it to adult and replace it with something like AP Alternative Press.
- Guideposts has been discontinued, so to fill our Christian niche, how about Ignite Your Faith?
- New York Times Upfront NEVER goes out, but I’ve been keeping it because it is informative and not full of fluff. I have found another magazine that might fill this niche…worth a try maybe… it is called Gumbo. It is by teens for teens.
- Perhaps we could get a copy of Next Step for the college bound.
- Shojo Beat and Shonen Jump both do well, perhaps we can add another manga/anime title. Either Comic Foundry or Piq.
- Craft (I think this would be cool to have!!, but maybe adults would like it too)
- Entertainment Weekly (do you think this would do well in the teen collection)

Help us pick some lounge seating for the new teen areas. During the next year Worthington Libraries will be renovating both buildings. What that means for you are some pretty awesome teen areas!!
Below are links to a variety of chairs our architects have presented to us.
Using the Quick Poll on the right, please vote on your favorite lounge chair.
Pay no attention to the colors of the chairs. What we need you to do is look at the chair and think about what you do while you are here at the library. Can you read, study, chat, lounge etc while sitting in this chair? We will have several types of seating in each teen room: stools, booths, tables & chairs. Please feel free to comment! Thanks for your help!
